📘 Our Story

CalcMySolar started with a simple question: “Can homeowners trust solar savings estimates?” In 2025, we realized most online calculators are lead-generation tools—they exist to collect your phone number, not to give you honest numbers.

We built this tool for ourselves first: to help friends and family compare solar quotes without sales pressure. Today, it’s a free, privacy-first resource. We are not solar installers, brokers, or financial advisors. We are just people who believe that financial decisions about solar should be based on math, not marketing.

🎯 What We Do (And Don’t Do)

We provide We do NOT provide
Educational estimates based on national averages and user inputs Professional financial or tax advice
A transparent, non-commercial calculator Guarantees that solar will save you money
General information about solar payback periods Recommendations for specific installers or equipment

Our role is strictly informational. Any decision you make based on our tool is yours alone.

🧮 About Our Solar Calculator

All figures produced by the CalcMySolar calculator are indicative estimates only. They are designed for comparative and educational purposes, not as a substitute for professional advice.

Why estimates are not guarantees:

  • Electricity rates vary by location and change over time.
  • Feed-in tariffs, tax credits (including the 30% Federal Tax Credit), and utility policies are subject to change.
  • Installation costs, roof characteristics, shading, and equipment choices differ for every home.
  • The calculator relies on assumptions and inputs you provide; if your inputs are inaccurate, the results will be inaccurate.

We cannot and do not warrant that:

  • Your actual payback period will match the estimate.
  • You will qualify for any tax credit or incentive.
  • Any installer will offer you the price assumed in the calculation.

You are solely responsible for verifying all information and seeking independent advice from:

  • Licensed solar installers
  • Certified tax professionals
  • Qualified electricians or engineers

👨‍💻 Founder

Med Oughzif, Founder of CalcMySolar

Med Oughzif

Founder & Developer

Med spent a decade in energy data analytics before realizing the industry speaks in acronyms, not dollars. He coded the first version of CalcMySolar in 2025 to help his parents decode a confusing solar quote. The site remains a solo, bootstrapped project—no investors, no sales team, and no plan to sell user data.

I don’t claim solar is right for everyone. I just want homeowners to see the math before they hear the sales pitch.

💚 Our Principles

Privacy by design

We do not store your bill amount, system cost, or address. Calculations happen in your browser, not on our server.

Math over marketing

We use conservative assumptions. We do not inflate savings to make solar look better.

No hidden agenda

We accept no commissions from installers. We do not sell leads.

Transparency

Every assumption behind the calculator is disclosed. We tell you what we don’t know.
